How to join a SMART RECOVERY meeting?

At the CKU Center, meetings are held every Friday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, alternating between live and online. The calendar of meetings is available here

At SMART Recovery Meetings, participants learn how to cope with the challenges of addiction. Unlike traditional support groups, SMART Recovery focuses on developing self-help skills in four key areas:

  • Building and Maintaining Motivation – Learning techniques that help strengthen and maintain the motivation to change.

  • Managing Cravings – Effectively manage cravings, stress, and negative emotions that can lead to relapses.

  • Managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours – Developing skills that allow you to constructively approach emotional problems and impulsive behaviours.

  • Life Balancing – Creating and maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle that supports the healing process.

How do SMART Recovery meetings work?
  • We encourage you to discuss or listen.

  • We focus on the most urgent needs of participants.

  • A program based on abstinence, but also for people who want to limit/reduce harm.

  • We focus on the “here and now”.

  • Meetings can be a supplement to ongoing therapy; they are not mutually exclusive with other Self-Help groups.
